Ashley HomeStore to open in Marquette

MARQUETTE — Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Escanaba is expanding to offer an additional location in Marquette, according to a press release from the business.

The showroom will be located on U.S. 41 in Marquette across from the Marquette Mall. Extensive remodeling to both the interior and exterior of the new location is expected to be completed by mid-to-late August, the release said. The store will be open to the public soon after.

The store’s interior design will encompass two levels, the release said.

This is the second Ashley Furniture HomeStore owned and operated by the Jensen family. When the Jensens opened their Escanaba HomeStore in 2006, it was the 239th HomeStore in the U.S. There are now more than 700 Ashley Furniture HomeStore locations worldwide. The new store will staff approximately 15 employees, and will be open seven days a week.

The Jensen family also operates Guindon Moving and Storage out of both Negaunee and Escanaba. Roger and Mary Jane Jensen originally purchased Guindon Moving and Storage in 1981 and started Roger’s Furniture in 1991. The companies continued to expand into different markets when their son, Scott (wife Sindy) and their daughter, Kelly entered full time into the businesses.

In 2006, Roger’s Furniture was converted and expanded to the Ashley HomeStore of Escanaba.

Kelly Jensen, owner/general manager of the two HomeStores said they’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback on the opening of the new location in Marquette.

“The response that we’ve received from the Marquette community has been tremendous,” Kelly Jensen said. “We’re proud and excited to get to know our customers and serve the Marquette area … and we look forward to earning their loyalty and trust.”

Scott Jensen Co-Owner added, “As long-time residents of Marquette, my wife Sindy and I are excited to be a part of bringing the Ashley HomeStore concept to the Marquette area.”

The store will feature bedroom, dining room, upholstery, motion upholstery, leather, occasional tables, entertainment centers, home office, youth bedroom, recliners, mattresses, lamps, accent pillows, throws, area rugs and decor accessories. The youth bedroom section showcases a place for children to have a little fun and invite them to experience the creative selection of kids’ bunk, trundle and conventional beds; desks, mattresses and dressers. The bedding gallery exhibits popular mattress brands, including Ashley Sleep, Tempurpedic and Simmons Beautyrest.
