No one injured in eastside city shooting

MARQUETTE — A shot was fired into a wall of a residence on the 100 block of East Fair Avenue Tuesday morning during an alleged domestic assault, resulting in the arrest of a 32-year-old Marquette woman.

Upon arriving to the scene around 11 a.m., officers from the Marquette City Police Department learned a weapon was introduced during the alleged assault, and that a shot was discharged into a wall during a struggle over the firearm. Detective Lt. Greg Kinonen said no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The 32-year-old female of Marquette, who will not be named by The Mining Journal pending arraignment, was arrested for felonious assault and lodged at the Marquette County Jail. Marquette County District Court officials said the arraignment will likely take place this afternoon.

The second female involved in the incident is not being identified, Kinonen said. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be sought.

Also assisting on the scene were personnel from Northern Michigan University Public Safety and UP Health System EMS.
