Selections announced for city band concert

MARQUETTE — Officials with the Marquette City Band have announced a finalized list of selections the group will play at its performance Sunday.

The concert will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Reynolds Concert Hall on the campus of Northern Michigan University.

The selections include:

“Finnish Rhapsody” by Herbert W. Fred (a medley of Finnish folk songs)

“Caribbean Carnival” by David Bennett

“Carnaval of Sao Paulo” by James Barnes

“Winterset” by Ralph Herman

“Bugler’s Holiday” by Leroy Anderson (features Joe Hellberg, Eric Banitt and Sarah Rehborg on trumpet)

“Let It Go” (from “Frozen”) features vocalist Caitlin Palomaki

“Cirque du Soleil” (featuring “Alegria,” “Alone,” “O,” and “Kunya Sobé”)

“Vesuvius” by Frank Ticheli

“The Klaxon March” by Henry Fillmore

The music was selected around the theme, “Winter Carnival,” officials said.

While admission is free, donations will be appreciated and will help fund the band’s concert tour to Finland this July.
