Trillium House receives gift opportunity

MARQUETTE — Ground-breaking for an eight-room hospice house in Marquette is getting closer to happening and a local foundation has agreed to help. Along with a recent grant, the M.E. Davenport Foundation has offered to match gifts made to Trillium House.

“We greatly appreciate this matching grant. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make a gift and know your support is doubled,” explained Trillium House Executive Director Pat Bray. The foundation’s grant is for $35,000 with an additional $15,000 available to match donations. If the full match is met, the grant and match will bring $65,000 to Trillium House.

Currently, the Central U.P. is the only part of the U.P. without a hospice house. This often creates a heart-rending problem for families when a loved one is at the end of life but they simply can’t stay safely and comfortably at home. Trillium House is a brick-and-mortar solution patterned on hospice houses that have served many communities for decades.

The patient’s hospice provider continues to provide all medical care. Trillium House will provide for their daily needs including personal care, meals, assistance with medications as well as laundry and housekeeping.
