Conviction in Alger CSC case

CHAMPION — A Champion man was found guilty of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor under 13 years of age last week in the Alger County Circuit Court.

According to a release from the Michigan State Police post in Negaunee Township, Thomas Arthur Lemoine, 52, was arrested in April of this year after assaulting a victim at an AuTrain area campground in July 2014.

The MSP initiated an investigation into the incident in December 2015. Lemoine was found guilty by a jury on Dec. 2, and was scheduled to be sentenced at 10 a.m. Jan. 18.

According to police, he is currently lodged in the Alger County Jail and will remain there until sentencing.
