Brush fire battled in rural Negaunee

NEGAUNEE – A brush fire in Negaunee just yards away from a residential home was put out before causing any damage to the structure.

Personnel from the Negaunee Township Fire Department, Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Negaunee City Fire Department responded to the blaze just before 2 p.m. on Krooks Road in Negaunee.

Crews quickly put out the fire, which burned about a half-acre of land, said George Saip, Negaunee Township Fire Department captain.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, he said, although dry conditions were believed to be a factor.
