Two-vehicle accident sends one to hospital
MARQUETTE – Snowy conditions and slippery roads resulted in a two-vehicle accident in Sands Township this afternoon, sending one woman to the hospital.
According to a press release from the Michigan State Police post in Negaunee Township, troopers responded to the crash on M553 about 1 mile north of Ridge Road just after 1 p.m.
An investigation revealed Rylee Paquet, 19, of Lake Ville, Illinois, was traveling south on M553 when she lost control of her 2002 Jeep Liberty while attempting to negotiate a curve.
Paquet’s vehicle slid across the centerline and collided head-on with a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 25-year-old Gwinn resident Jamie Little, who was traveling in the opposite direction.
Little was transported to UP Health System-Marquette by EMS where she was treated for her injuries.
Paquet was treated at the scene and released. She was cited for traveling too fast for conditions.
Also assisting at the scene was the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Marquette Police Department, UP Health System-Marquette EMS, Sands Township Fire and EMS and Marquette Fire Department.
