2015 Mining Journal Cheer Club

Tonya Allen displays two of the toys she brought into The Mining Journal’s Ishpeming office recently for the 37th Annual Cheer Club on behalf of the Allen family. The Cheer Club is a joint effort between the Journal, the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul to provide gifts to local children and families in need. Toys and other gifts can be dropped off at the Journal’s Marquette and Ishpeming offices, the Marquette and Ishpeming Salvation Army locations and the St. Vincent de Paul in Marquette. UP Health System-Bell, ACE Hardware in Gwinn and the Marquette Township Hall will also accept donations for the Cheer Club. Gifts should be unwrapped and appropriate for ages up to 14 years. 2015 Mining Journal Cheer Club

Jerry Valenti dropped off toys in The Mining Journal’s Ishpeming office that he and his wife, Mary, are donating to the 37th Annual Mining Journal Cheer Club in honor of the memory of his son, Paul Valenti. The Cheer Club is in full swing – a joint effort between the Journal, the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul – to provide toys to local children and families in need. Donations can be dropped off at the Journal’s Marquette or Ishpeming office as well as at the Marquette St. Vincent de Paul and Marquette and Ishpeming Salvation Army locations, ACE Hardware in Gwinn, UP Health System-Bell in Ishpeming and Marquette Township offices. Gifts should be unwrapped. Monetary donations are also accepted at all locations to pay for some programs and overhead costs. (Journal photo by Lisa Bowers)
