MooseWood — from 10 a.m. to noon, Matt Watkeys, forester for Marquette and Alger County Conservation Districts, will lead a winter tree identification program at MooseWood Nature Center in Marquette. A 10-15 minute inside discussion will be followed by time out in the field. The fee: $5 for an individual and $10 for a family-up to four or give what you can. A limited number of snowshoes are available for $5 or bring your own.

Career open house — Northern Michigan University will host a Career Exploration Open House from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Jacobetti Complex. Prospective students and families are invited to tour the learning labs, meet with faculty to discuss programs and explore career choices. The Career Exploration Open House will highlight careers in: automotive service; aviation maintenance; construction management; electrical; line technician; engineering technology; heating and cooling; industrial maintenance; industrial technologies; mechanical; welding; hospitality management; computer numerical control; and cosmetology. In addition, admissions counselors will be available until 2 p.m. in conjunction with Wildcat Weekend.

Repair Cafe — The Transition Marquette County Repair Cafe will be open again in the Marquette Arts and Culture Center, on the lower level of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette. From noon to 4 p.m., the public is invited to bring in small household items in need of repair. Volunteer repair talent will be on hand to work on computers and electronics, sewing machines, small appliances, clothing, lamps, and other household items.
