Free pet adoptions — hoping to find many animals their forever homes, the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is hosting a “Home for the Holidays” open house event from noon to 6:30 p.m. And mBank is sponsoring all adoptions. Genealogy Help — Members of the Marquette County Genealogical Society are available to assist with researching family history. Peter White Public Library Reference area, 2-4 p.m.

Diabetes support — group meeting from 5-7 p.m. at the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum for parents of children living with type 1 diabetes. The group will be meeting every third Thursday of the month. Parents will have a chance to meet and discuss issues, concerns, and get advice from other parents who may be going through similar situations with their children. Snacks will be served. IHS newsletter — The Ishpeming High School Alumni Association is looking for volunteers to help label its newsletter, The Beacon Light, at 5:30 p.m. in the Ishpeming High School Library. Those going to help should use the Division Street doors.

NAMI — National Alliance on Mental Illness Alger/Marquette will be having a support group meeting at 7 p.m. at 129 W. Baraga Ave., Marquette. NAMI meetings are confidential and open to individuals living with a mental illness and family, friends, etc. of such individuals. Support groups are places to share whether bad or good.
