Wednesday

YMCA Tang Soo Do Karate — in Marquette. 12-Step Recovery Groups — offered daily at the Alano Club, 1202 S. Front St., Marquette.

Free health screening —  U.P. Home Health & Hospice announces free health care screenings for the month of November throughout Marquette County. Included in the free screenings are blood pressure, pulse and glucose checks and a $5 charge to have cholesterol level checked. This date: Negaunee Senior Center – 10 a.m.-noon, 410 Jackson St., Negaunee – 475-6266

Ely assessor — The Ely Township Assessor will have office hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ely Township Hall.

Al-Anon — 10 a.m. Mission Covenant Church, North Second Street, in Ishpeming.

Alcoholics Anonymous — noon, 1202 S. Front St., Marquette.

Meditation — A free meditation class is offered at noon at the Masonic Building’s lounge in Marquette. Call 906-250-4457 for more information.

Musical — Westwood High School’s Voices in Motion will be presenting the Broadway musical “Newsies” at 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Patriot Performing Arts Theater at WHS. Reserved tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and are available in the Westwood High School Principal’s Office.

Triad — senior volunteers working with law enforcement to address senior-safety issues — meets the first Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the office of the Retired and Senior Volunteer program in Negaunee Township. Contact Julie Shaw at 906-315-2607 for more information.

Blood drive — The UPHS-Marquette Regional Blood Center, a service of UP

Health System-Marquette, will have a blood drive at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, Manistique, from 1-5:15 p.m. For an appointment call Mindy Asp at 341-5777.

Life Skills Group — for survivors or domestic and/or sexual violence. Conducted by the Women’s Center. 1-2:30 p.m. Contact Becky at 225-1346 or Sherrie at 226-6611 for further information.

Jayne’s Bridge Club — meets at 1 p.m., at 300 Spring St., Marquette. Call 225-1456.

Chess — is played at 1:30 p.m. at the Masonic Center, 128 W. Washington St., Marquette. Use entrance at rear of building. Free lessons available, chess sets and boards provided. Call 869-1719.

Teen Advisory Board Meeting — 4-5 p.m. Peter White Public Library Lions Room. Everyone in grades 9 – 12 is welcome to join the library’s Teen Advisory Board. Meet new people, get volunteer experience, and plan activities for people your age. Refreshments will be served. Free. MSHS parent-teacher — Parent Teacher Conferences will be held at Marquette Senior High School from 5-7:30 p.m. Parents are asked to register upon entering the building at the canopy entrance.

After Hours — the Lake Superior Community Partnership will be hosting a Business After Hours to wrap-up its year-long 20th anniversary celebration. The event will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the LSCP office located at 501 S. Front St. in Marquette. There is no cost to attend.

Community meal — Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette will host its monthly community meal at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Table of Grace — All are welcome to partake in the free Table of Grace community meal at Grace Lutheran Church in Gwinn from 5:30-6:15 p.m. On the menu is chicken casserole.
