Tea takes place in Gwinn Saturday
GWINN — Celebrating Our Roots Fourth Annual Tea Party and Style Show is planned by the Forsyth Township Public Library and takes place from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Gwinn Community Clubhouse.
The Style Show will feature costumes and ethnic attire from collections of local residents whose ancestors immigrated to the Upper Peninsula.
Marquette Folk Dancers will perform traditional dances.
Luncheon will include teas from Hannah’s Tea Time of Negaunee, tea sandwiches and sweet treats, including chocolate truffles. Flower centerpieces and gift baskets will be raffled.
All proceeds will go toward upgrading technology at the Forsyth Public Library.
Tickets are $20 and are available from committee members or by calling the library at 346-3433.
Gardeners gather Saturday
MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Master Gardener Association presents Integrated Pest Management for the Small Garden with Elise Bunce from 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Peter White Public Library Shiras Room.
Elise Bunce moved to the Upper Peninsula with her husband in 1981 with a crop and soils degree from Michigan State University. She has worked in energy consulting, raised two children, became a nurse and started Rock River Perennial Garden and Greenhouse 16 years ago.
She retired from nursing in 2016 and the nursery in 2017.
She will speak about understanding integrated pest management, using phenology to help predict insect emergence, identifying garden bugs and more.
This program is free for UPMGA members.

Ishpeming Legion has dance
ISHPEMING — A Polka/Variety Dance at American Legion Hall in Ishpeming is planned from 2-5 p.m. Saturday with Wil Kilpela and Ken Holster, featuring polka, waltz, two-step, and other music.
Luncheon will be available.
