‘Honoring Our Veterans’ concert

MARQUETTE — The Marquette City Band’s annual 4th of July Concert will have the theme “Honoring Our Veterans.”

It takes place at 6:30 pm. Wednesday, July 4 at Mattson Lower Harbor Park.

Bring lawn chairs or fill the benches down at Mattson Lower Harbor Park.

The band has two 7:30 p.m. Thursday concerts at Presque Isle Bandshell: July 12 and July 26.

The Upper Peninsula Community Band Festival takes place there Aug. 3-4. At 7 p.m. Aug. 3, Guest Community Bands will perform and at 7 p.m. Aug. 4 the Marquette City Band and Festival Concert Band will perform.

Peter Bergin to perform July 7

CURTIS — Michigan-based ragtime artist Peter Bergin, who has entertained audiences for over two decades, will appear at the Erickson Center for the Arts in Curtis at 7 p.m. July 7.

Peter’s mission is to celebrate life through music and stories, and he especially loves sharing the rhythms of ragtime piano. The ragtime portion of his program includes classic favorites such as “The Entertainer” and “The Maple Leaf Rag”and the American Storybook selections include George Gershwin, Glenn Miller, Irving Berlin … only the best from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.

Advance tickets $15, students 18 and under $5. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door. All tickets sales are final. Call the ECA office for more information at 906-586-9974.

Dance at Rock Community Center

ROCK — A dance will take place from 1-5 p.m. July 8 at the Rock Comunity-Senior Center, 3892 W. Mapleridge Road.

Music will be provided by Just The Two Of Us. Admission is $5 per person and a free-will donation lunch will be available.
