Negaunee City Band to perform

NEGAUNEE — The Negaunee City Band plays its first free concert of the 2018 season at 7:30 p.m. June 13 at the Outdoor Performing Arts Center at the east end of Iron Street.

This year the band will be under the enthusiastic direction of Brandon Nelson, who has a bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s in music composition.

The band will play weekly though Aug. 8, with all concerts scheduled for Wednesday evenings except the first week in July when the band will play on Thursday, July 5. Some seating is available, but attendees may wish to bring their own chairs.

The band will also participate in a number of parades, including the Memorial Day Parade which was on Monday and the Firemen’s Memorial March which will be Sunday, both in Negaunee. The band will march in Negaunee’s Pioneer Days Parade on July 14 and in Ishpeming’s Independence Day Parade.
