Tai Chi class is Saturday
MARQUETTE — An introductory workshop to the mind/body practice of Tai Chi Chuan will be from 9:30 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Marquette Hope Connection Center, 927 W. Fair Ave.
Tai Chi originated with Chinese Buddhist monks in the eighth century. It involves gentle movements that increase flexibility, regulate the immune system, and contributes to wellness and health.
It is a mind/body exercise that is now used in major medical centers across North America to promote healing.
It also is regarded as the “Mother” of all martial arts. No prior experience is needed. Jon and Diana Magnuson will serve as workshop instructors.
The workshop is sponsored by The Cedar Tree Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides services and initiates projects in the areas of mental health, religion, and the environment. The workshop fee is $27 and includes tea and a light brunch.
