Exhibit discussion — Northern Michigan University’s DeVos Art Museum will host a discussion that coincides with the “Aperture” exhibit. This free event will take place at 2 p.m. at the DeVos Art Museum. Refreshments will be provided after the event in the museum lobby. Emily Lanctot, DeVos Art Museum curator of collections and outreach, will lead the discussion. Panelists include Lali Khalid, photographer and co-founder of The Creative House; Patricia Killelea, assistant professor of English; Leslie Larkin, associate professor of English; Tracy Wascom, assistant professor of Art and Design.

Fish fry — Ishpeming VFW Post 4573, 310 Bank St., will be having Friday Night Fish Fry, from 4-7 p.m. Take out available. Cooked and served by volunteers, the meal will include a choice of perch, cod, salmon or shrimp. In addition, golden fried chicken, ribeye steaks and burgers are available. Rotary Club of Ishpeming — The 34th annual An Evening of Romance at the Great Lakes Rooms on the campus of Northern Michigan University. The event consists of a buffet-style dinner and dance. A live and silent auction will enable attendees to help support the club and bid on local baskets, excursions and sports memorabilia. A cocktail social begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. followed by silent and live auction and then dancing. Library event — The Friends of the Negaunee Public Library will hold its Valentine Open House and Book Sale from noon to 3 p.m., the day before Valentine Day. Refreshments will be served, and the book sale will be held in the Michigan Room. Hard cover books will be 50 cents, all paperbacks and soft cover books will be a 25 cents, and all children’s books will be 10 cents. This is a public service project and is totally comprised of public donations. All funds are used for the use of the Library.

Coder Dojo 906 — a community-based programming club for young people sponsored by the Northern Michigan University Seaborg Center, is offering coding classes from 4-6 p.m. this date. The sessions will take place in 2702 West Science. Coder Dojo 906 is a club that focuses on teaching young people ages 5-17 how to code develop websites, apps, programs and games. This series of classes is primarily aimed at kids 7 years old and older. Each class will provide activities for 5 and 6 year olds, but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
