IHS chorus selling fruit

ISHPEMING — Ishpeming High School chorus students are selling fruit to raise funds for an April 2018 trip to New York City.

There are 11 ordering options which include oranges, apples, grapefruit, pears and pineapples. Contact Sheila Grazulis at sgrazulis@ishpemingschools.com for more information. The order form is also available on the Ishpeming Schools website.

Orders will be accepted through Monday, with delivery the week of Dec. 4.

LSCP presentation scheduled

MARQUETTE — A presentation on the operations of the Lake Superior Community Partnership will be offered from 1-3 p.m. Dec. 5, in the Shiras Room of Peter White Public Library. The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning is sponsoring the event.

Amy Clickner, CEO of the LSCP, will share the history, mission and various facets of the organization.

She will also provide information on what the organization does for the community, economy and employment in the area.

Thrivent part of #GivingTuesday

MARQUETTE — Local Thrivent Financial members will join the global #GivingTuesday movement.

The East Wisconsin-Upper Michigan Region Thrivent Member Network pledges to match qualifying personal donations up to $10,000 made to Messiah Lutheran Church Community Assistance Program on #GivingTuesday.

Messiah Lutheran Church/Community Assistance Program, 305 W. Magnetic St., Marquette will host a day of food, fun, music, entertainment, give-a-ways, door prizes and other fun activities from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Nov. 28.

Thrivent will match qualifying personal donations made online or onsite, up to $10,000 or 11:59 p.m., whichever comes first.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

Occurring this year on Nov. 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
