Deadline for bazaar booths set

BIG BAY — Community Presbyterian Church presents Christmas in Big Bay from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 25.

The event will be at 312 Bensinger St.

Vendors can still rent table/display areas. Call 345-9225 no later than Saturday to reserve a spot.

This Christmas bazaar will include Christmas crafts, baked goods, Rada Cutlery and Christmas-related rummage items.

MBE scholarships available

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Builders Exchange is awarding up to five scholarships of $1,000 each to qualifying senior high school students who are pursuing careers in the construction industry.

Scholarship recipients must be registered and accepted at an approved college, vocational or trade school/program and provide proof of enrollment before award checks will be issued to the students on Aug. 1, 2018.

To apply, students must fill out the application and return it, along with a letter of reference and a copy of their high school transcript, by March 1 to the Marquette Builders Exchange.

YMCA Holiday Challenge starts

MARQUETTE — The YMCA of Marquette County wants to keep people moving during holidays and help keep the holiday weight off with the YMCA Holiday Challenge.

The challenge is a weekly check-in and exercise class to help keep people mindful of those extra goodies eaten during the holidays. Once a week participants weigh in and participate in a small group personal training circuit class.

The challenge is to maintain one’s weight or even lose a couple pounds during the holidays.

To participate, sign up at the YMCA of Marquette County. Class starts Monday.

It will be a weekly 60-minute class. The first five minutes participants weigh in and the remaining class time will be spent circuit training.

There will be weekly emails with tips and support.

The class is from 6-7 p.m. Mondays, with the last two sessions being on Tuesdays, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.

The cost is member: $110 and non-member: $120.
