Saturday

Firemen — Marquette’s West Bluff Street will be closed to traffic from Seventh Street to Morgan Street from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accommodate the annual Firemen’s Parade and static display. The rain date is Saturday, Oct. 14.

Baraga Harvest Festival — Beginning at 7 a.m. and continuing through 11 p.m., Baraga Avenue will be closed to motor vehicles between Front Street and Third Street for the Baraga Harvest Festival.

Lake Superior Zendo — Zazen (Zen Buddhist meditation) meets at 7:40 a.m., 8:30 a.m.; morning service at 9:10 a.m. Call 226-6407 for location and details.

12-Step Recovery Groups — offered daily at the Alano Club, 1202 S. Front St., Marquette. For a complete AA meetings list visit www.aa-marquettecounty.org.

Youth outdoors — from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., kids ages 7-17 are invited to go to Seney Wildlife Refuge for a full day of fun and exploration of the natural world. This year’s activities include Wildlife CSI, Fruiting Fungi, Archery, Birds of Prey, and more. This is a rain or shine event and some sessions are physically demanding. Only 12 kids can participate in each session. All youth must be accompanied by an adult and must bring a sack lunch as lunch is not provided. The fee for the event is $5. Crafts and Curiosities — Art, Craft and Rummage Sale is planned at the Tilden Township Hall, 3145 County Road PG, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The hall will be filled with vendors: The Yooper Goddess, upcycled wool mittens, upcycled clothing by local artist, beeswax balms, salves and candles, homemade jams, crocheted hats, purses, cozies, etc., hand made jewelry, driftwood art and wood signs, glass art, American Legion cookbooks and much much more.

Vinyl show — The Marquette Fall Vinyl Record Show & Poster Sale will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Peter White Lounge on the first floor of the Don H. Bottum University Center at Northern Michigan University. This event is presented by the NMU Vinyl Record Club.

Munising quilts — The Munising Bay Quilt Guild will hold its triennial quilt show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on M-28 near the intersection with M-94. Admission is $3 per person (free potholder with admission).

Blessing of the Animals” — hosted by St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Grace Episcopal Church in Ishpeming at St. Joseph’s at 1889 Prairie Ave. The event will take place at 10:30 a.m. The event will occur indoors, so weather is not an issue. Also, people do not need to be a member of either church to attend. Refreshments will be served following the pet blessing ceremony.

Bart Stupak presents “For All Americans” — Bart Stupak will present his recent release “For All Americans,” a riveting look at the U.S. House of Representatives, national health care, and the sanctity of human life. Peter White Public Library Shiras Room. 11 a.m. 226-4318.

Baraga Beer Fest — Baraga Chamber of Commerce will present its second annual Baraga County Beer Fest from 1-5 p.m. at the Waterfront Park at North Front Street in L’Anse. Tickets are $35 at the door. The Baraga County Beer Fest is a fundraiser for the Baraga.

Noises Off —  Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre is beginning its 2017-18 season with “Noises Off,” a British farce by Michael Frayn at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for the public, $10 for students and $5 for NMU students. Tickets are available online at tickets.nmu.edu or at any NMU EZ Ticket outlet.
