Police academy — Northern Michigan University’s Regional Police Academy will host an informational meetings at 5 p.m. in room 132 of the Jacobetti Complex. Those interested in attending the academy from May-August 2018 are encouraged to attend the 45-minute session. The meeting will share Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and NMU requirements to attend the academy, an overview of the academy and an opportunity to ask questions. Maritime Memories — The Marquette Regional History Center presents: Maritime Memories at 6:30 p.m. at the center. Spend an evening with character reenactors as they tell their stories of serving at the Marquette and Eagle Harbor lighthouses from the Civil War to the turn of the century. Guests will meet two female lighthouse keepers, Eliza Truckey and Mary Ann Wheatley, who were monumental for their time. As well, they will meet the first captain of the U.S. Life Saving Service in Marquette, Captain Henry Cleary. There is a $5 suggested donation for this program.
