Historical society to meet

CHAMPION — The Champion-Beacon-Humboldt Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Champion Township Office, located along U.S. 41, Champion.

Everyone is invited to attend.

VFW hosting fundraiser

NEGAUNEE — VFW 3165 Auxiliary in Negaunee will host a fundraiser dinner from 4:30-7 p.m. Friday at the post.

The public is welcome to take part in the meal, which includes cudighi and cabbage in tomato sauce with polenta or mashed potatoes, salad, bread and dessert.

Tickets are $8 for adults; $5 for ages 5-12; and free for those 4 and under.

Recyclables to be collected

AU TRAIN — Au Train 4-H Club and the Superior Central Chapter of the National Honor Society will hold their semi-annual collection of recyclable materials from 8-10 a.m. Saturday at the MSU Research and Extension Center in Chatham.

Club members will be collecting newspapers and magazines (pack in paper bags, boxes or bind with twine), corrugated cardboard (break down, bind with twine or pack in a larger box), #1 and #2 plastics (remove caps, clean and sort, each type in a separate bag or box), tin and aluminum cans (clean and sorted, each type in a separate bag or box).

The clubs ask that local residents bring their pre-sorted materials in containers that can be left, such as paper or plastic bags, to facilitate on-site sorting. No glass can be accepted at this time, and there will be no early drop-offs allowed.
