SERA deadline is Saturday
MARQUETTE — The Lake Superior SERA’s October speaker is Michigan Civil Service Director of Benefits.
The retiree group will host a luncheon at the Marquette Holiday Inn at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 18. Reservations from any state retiree or SERA member will be accepted by telephone by Membership Chair Catherine Aalto at 906-361-3711 until Saturday. Luncheon cost is $14.50.
Bethany Beauchine has been the Director of the Employee Benefits Division of the Civil Service Commission since Jan. 1. Prior to that she worked at the Office of the State Employer spending the last year as Employee Health Management Division Director responsible for the Employee Services Program, Long Term Disability, Workers’ Compensation and Safety programs.
She was a Labor Relations Specialist with OSE for 13 years, and during that time had a chance to be the administrator for the AFSCME, MSEA and MCO contracts. Prior to coming to the State she worked for the Michigan Corrections Organization as a Labor Relations Specialist, so before coming to EBD she was involved with employee benefits from both sides.
In addition to the featured speaker the group will elect three board of directors members for 2018-2021. This is the final luncheon event for 2017 for Lake Superior SERA and members are urged to pay their 2018 dues at the meeting.
Menu Selections include Beef Stir Fry, Baked Salmon, and Herb Roasted Chicken, all with a vegetarian option available.
