Mackinac Bridge walkers sought
MARQUETTE — Want to walk the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4, the only day of the year pedistrians can walk the bridge?
Join the North Country Trail Hikers day trip, leaving Marquette at 5 a.m., stopping in Newberry for breakfast, walking the bridge, grabbing an ice cream cone on the way to the buses, ride a bus back across to St. Ignace and then have a late lunch/early dinner on the way back to Marquette.
The Mighty Mac is part of the North Country National Scenic Trail so the five-mile walk counts toward this year’s North Country Trail Association’s Hike 100. Carpooling will be arranged so contact Lorana at firstname.lastname@example.org or 906-226-6210 to sign up, agree to be a driver, or want additional information by 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2.
Riders should plan to help pay for the driver’s gas.
All meals, treats and the bus ticket back to St. Ignace are Dutch Treat.
