Craft, rummage, bake sale held

MARQUETTE — The Women’s Missionary Society of First Baptist Church in Marquette will have a craft, rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9.

There will be handmade crafts, white elephant, Christmas items, books, clothes and baked goods. For every canned item brought in for the Salvation Army pantry, the person will receive 10 percent off a purchase.

Logs due to library Sept. 8

MARQUETTE — Did you get in shape while saving Middle Earth? Did you make it all the way to Mordor? Maybe just to Rivendell?

No matter how far you walked, be sure to turn in your log at the Peter White Public Library’s circulation desk by 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8. The top 20 walkers who made it the farthest will receive a prize.

‘Sister Act’ held at Calumet Theatre

CALUMET — The Calumet Players will present “Sister Act” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8-9, Sept. 15-16 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Historic Calumet Theatre.

Fishing with Friends event Sept. 9

K.I. SAWYER — The K.I. Sawyer Community Alliance presents the sixth annual Fishing with Friends at noon Sept. 9 at Little Trout Lake, K.I. Sawyer location.

The day will include games, food, crafts, door prizes and vendors. Movies on the Beach will begin at sunset in this day of fun for the whole family.

30th annual Turkey Shoot held

SKANDIA — The West Branch Sportmen’s Club’s 30th annual Turkey Shoot is set for Saturday, Sept. 9.

Shooting will be from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. And turkeys are not actually shot but participants can win frozen chickens and frozen turkeys.

Archery, rifles, shotguns, pistols and black powder are all part of the day. Tickets are $1 and some games require multiple tickets. There are games for both adults and kids plus raffles an d bucket drawings.

The event takes place at the clubhouse one mile south of M-94 on Engman Lake Road.
