Doo-Wop Daddies set to perform

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Doo-Wop Daddies, based in Milwaukee, will take the stage at Crystal Theatre at 2 p.m. CST Sunday.

The Doo-Wop Daddies capture the demanding vocal style of Doo-Wop music with unsurpassed excellence. The Daddies don’t merely recreate this classic genre, but have redefined it and made it their own — 21st Century Doo-Wop.

The Doo-Wop Daddies’ live shows attain that ideal unity of masterful performance and entertainment. Combining elements of vintage and cutting edge musical technologies. The Doo-Wop Daddies produce an exciting theatrical show that remains faithful to the Doo-Wop style. It is music of the ’50s and ’60s in a new light that’s as fresh as tomorrow,

The Doo-Wop Daddies have been entertaining audiences since 1999. It was the brainchild of Jerry Allen, A.K.A., Johnny Sparkle. It is a perennial favorite at local festivals including Milwaukee’s Summerfest, Festa Italiana, and Polish Fest. Its members have changed over the years but the product has continued to excel. There are two original members still in the group: saxophonist Terry “Boom Boom” Casey and Mike “Guido” Sturino, leader of the Daddies. Other members are: Lee Wanek on drums, Paul Pulera on bass guitar and Tom Lorio on guitar and singer. Other vocalists include Mike “Poppi” Sorensen, Ben Barnes and Ryan Clark. Together they reproduce the authentic sound of the great Doo-Wop groups of the ’50s and ’60s.

This is the fifth event in the 2017 A Gem of a Season Series event. Tickets are $18 in advance, $22 at the door, $5 students (under 18 or with active student ID). For additional information www.thecrystaltheatre.org or www.doo-wopdaddies.com
