Vacation Bible school to be held

MARQUETTE — Marquette Hope, a multi-site United Methodist faith-based community in Marquette, is offering a new option for families looking for vacation Bible school for their children.

This year’s annual vacation Bible school will be a weekend event Friday through Sunday encompassing three days of activities for children and parents. The theme this year is “Camp Out Getting S’More of Jesus.”

Marquette Hope wanted to provide an alternative for children and parents who don’t have the ability to commit to a full week of activities. With this shortened, but exciting program, they hope to attract new families to vacation Bible school.

“VBS this year is very family-focused with lots of flexibility,” Kristi Hintz, pastor at Marquette Hope, said in a news release. “Families can drop in at their convenience or come for the entire weekend. We hope this attracts more of our young families and provides a rewarding experience for their children.”

“Since launching Marquette Hope in September 2016, our primary focus has been to do things different and attract new families,” said Christopher Hintz, pastor at Marquette Hope. “Weekend VBS is just one way we can offer something different for the Marquette community.”

The fun starts at 5 p.m. Friday with a family picnic potluck and concludes at 10 a.m. Sunday with an outdoor worship service at the Presque Isle bandshell.
