‘Doubt’ to be screened Thursday

MARQUETTE — Peter White Public Library’s Modern Classics Series — Films Worth Watching — presents “Doubt” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Released in 2008 and rated PG-13, the film runs for 1 hour and 44 minutes and stars Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams.

It will be shown in the Peter White Public Library Community Room. There is no admission charge thanks to the sponsorship of the Friends of the Peter White Public Library.

Donations toward rummage sale

MARQUETTE — Donations are being accepted soon for the MooseWood Nature Center’s upcoming Community Rummage Sale and Bake Sale, which will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9.

Great deals and good finds on art, furniture, toys, and more to benefit the local nature center will be available for purchase.

All donations are tax-deductible (as allowable by law), and MooseWood can provide donation receipts. They will accept gently used and working donations only. Select items will be priced, but most will be available for a donation.

Donation Drop-off Days at MooseWood Nature Center are from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, then the same times again on Aug. 19 and Aug. 26.

Sale prep day will take place on a date to be determined. Date will be posted on the center’s website soon. A list of accepted items and items that will not be accepted can be found www.moosewood.org.

Bakers and volunteers are also needed for the bake sale and to help set up for the rummage sale and on collection and sale dates. Bakers need to provide an ingredient list for the baked goods.

Anyone who would like to lend a hand should contact the nature center at 228-6250 or at moosewoodnc@gmail.com. Items must be delivered to MooseWood during business hours or by appointment. Sorry, no pick-ups.

All proceeds support operational costs and education programs at MooseWood Nature Center.

MARQUETTE — U.P. Rainbow Pride is seeking vendors for Pride Fest 2017.

This year, Pride Fest will be Sept. 16 at Tourist Park in Marquette.
