NARFE planning picnic
MARQUETTE — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association Chapter 1900 will hold its annual members’ pasty picnic at noon July 26 at the Crossroads Restaurant on M-553 and Marquette County Road 480, south of the city of Marquette.
The meal will include a pasty, cole slaw and non-alcoholic beverage. The meal is free for Chapter 1900 members and one guest per member.

Legislators and their representatives have been invited for brief remarks. Candidates for Michigan House District 109 have also been invited. A memorial service will honor NARFE members who passed away in the past year.
The pasty picnic takes the place of the regular monthly NARFE meeting for July.
NARFE Chapter 1900 includes members from the Marquette, Escanaba, Rapid River, Houghton, Hancock and Ontonagon areas.

Legion service officer in Marquette
MARQUETTE — American Legion Department Service Officer Lisa Clark will be in Marquette from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at American Legion Post 44, 700 W. Bluff St., Marquette.
She is available to assist all veterans and families of veterans with claim preparation, presentation, counsel and appeal counsel at no cost to the veterans.
Anyone who believes they may be eligible for Veterans Administration compensation on health, education and/or employment issues, stop at Post 44 and see Clark.
