Benefit for Kelly Girard — is planned from 1-6 p.m. at Gwinn High School. Girard, a charismatic, outdoor-loving husband and father, recently was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, hypertension, and COPD. He is currently awaiting a bilateral lung transplant. Kelly will undergo the transplant surgery at the University of Minnesota. After recovering from the surgery and being released, Kelly and his wife, Judy (a longtime Gwinn teacher), are required to live within 15 minutes of the hospital for at least three months. The benefit will be having a spaghetti dinner to raise funds to help alleviate some of the financial burden placed on the Girard family. This benefit includes a spaghetti dinner, basket raffle, and a bake sale. Cost: adult $7; children $5; family (two adults and two children) $20; and children 5 and under free.

Historic tour — The Ishpeming Area Historical Society will hold the annual “Historical Places and Interesting Spaces” (Historic tour) Fundraiser from 1-5 p.m. An urban-style “loft” residence, a restored and meticulously decorated mid-century home, the Ishpeming Fire Hall, and St John’s Church will be featured. There is to be a peek inside the Anderson Block on Main at Pearl. There will be refreshments and homemade goodies at St. John’s. Advance tickets — each a $10 donation — will be available now at the museum, located on the third floor of the Gossard Building, and Main Street Antique Mall, as well as at Midtown Bakery and Cafe in Negaunee. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the Ishpeming Area Historical Society , which is a 501c3 nonprofit. Bingo — American Legion Auxiliary Bingo at Post 349 in Little Lake is ongoing on Sundays. Early birds are at 1:30 p.m. and the regular session is at 2 p.m. The public is invited.

Raptors — The public has a chance to get up close and personal with raptors from 3-6 p.m. A one-hour program with birds on the glove will be presented at 4 p.m. at the Chocolay Raptor Center, 146 Lakewood Lane in Harvey.
