‘Tee Up 4 Tails’ golf fundraiser
MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter’s 20th annual “Tee Up 4 Tails” golf fundraiser is coming up on July 14.
The public is invited join in for a fun day on the golf course. Registration is at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
Coffee and breakfast goodies will be available before play. The $100 registration includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, and buffet lunch after play. There will be a fun raffle, 50/50, silent auction and the chance for great prizes.
The tournament is being held at the Marquette Golf Club Heritage course. A hole-in-one chance is sponsored by Fox Motors. Make a hole-in-one at the specified hole to win a car.

Hunter’s Safety Class to be held
NEGAUNEE — Ishpeming-Negaunee-NICE Community Schools announces that there will be a Hunter’s Safety Class at the Negaunee Rod and Gun Club starting Monday, July 10. This four-day class will be held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6-9 p.m.
On Monday, July 10 arrive 30 minutes early for registration. Field Day will be Thursday, July 13.
This class is for ages 10 years and older. Students less than 10 years old are welcome if seating is available. A guardian must accompany students ages 11 and under.

Fuzzy Boyak memorial tournament
MUNISING — The seventh Annual Fuzzy Boyak Memorial Golf Tournament kicks off at Munising’s Pictured Rocks Golf Club on July 29.
Registration is opens for this four-person scramble with cash prizes for winning teams and dinner. All proceeds to benefit the Dennis “Fuzzy” Boyak Fund and the Fuzzy Fitness Center housed within Alger Parks and Recreation Department.

The Dennis “Fuzzy” Boyak Fund was created to memorialize Fuzzy Boyak by his beloved family. Fuzzy loved Munising and supported many efforts in the community. His family is honored to continue those efforts and his legacy. The Alger Parks and Recreation Department is a local non-profit organization that provides quality recreation, educational and cultural opportunities at affordable pricing for all.

‘Night of Music’ concert in Chatham
CHATHAM — The Sion Lutheran Church, on M-94 in Chatham, will be hosting a “Night of Music” concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 6 featuring the Gospel Guys, Tara Pokela, Don Miller, Ron McGrady and other special talent from the congregation.
The concert is free of charge.
Large used book sale in Negaunee
NEGAUNEE — The Negaunee Library will hold its 37th Annual Pioneer Days large used book sale on Thursday, July 6 at the Negaunee Senior Center, two blocks west of the library.
The sale is sponsored by the Friends of the Negaunee Library.
The library has been busy collecting hard cover and paperback books that will sell for 50 cents and 25 cents, and children’s books that will sell for 10 cents each. Books will be separated into fiction and non-fiction in many categories for easier searching.
Books may be donated to the library up to the day of the sale at the library located at Jackson and Kantor streets, or donated to the sale at the senior citizens center on sale day.
The sale at the senior center, corner of Jackson and Tobin streets, will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. During the last hour of the sale, books may be purchased for $1 a bag.
Attendees at the sale also are reminded of the large number of free magazines always available in the library’s hallway by the Michigan Room. Bags will be available for books and magazines.

Friday Flea Market held July 7
NEGAUNEE — A free Friday Flea Market is planned on Iron Street in downtown Negaunee on Friday, July 7.
The event is free to attend and free to set up. Set up starts at 7 a.m. and sales begin at 9 a.m. The flea market ends at 1 p.m.

Sock hop event to be held in Curtis
CURTIS — The Erickson Center for the Arts in Curis will present a sock hop from 7-11 p.m. Saturday, July 8.
This musical evening will be a step back in time. Dance the night away to favorite music of the 50’s and 60’s from Double Trouble Entertainment. Sock hop/50’s retro attire is absolutely encouraged for both guys and gals, but not required.
