MRHC putting on bus tours
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Regional History Center presents: 2017 Historical Bus Tours. All tours begin at the MRHC.
In July, the 1 p.m. tours are July 12 and July 25. The 6 p.m. tours will be July 20 and July 26.
In August, 1 p.m. tours will be Aug. 1 and Aug. 8 and the 6 p.m. tours are Aug. 2 and Aug. 9.
The bus tour is an entertaining, narrated journey through Marquette. For the summer of 2017 the tours are commemorating World War I during the centennial of the Great War.
The route takes participants through the Historic District, down to the waterfront, and through the streets of Marquette. They will learn interesting historical facts about the Queen City of the North as they hear a general history narration throughout the journey from the tour guide.
Through colorful characters that hop on the bus to share their stories, tour goers will learn how the people of Marquette were affected by the Great War, and what everyday life was like here 100 years ago.
Eight tours are available and advance purchase of tickets is strongly recommended. Tickets are now on sale and are available by calling 906-226-3571, visiting marquettehistory.org, or stopping by the Marquette Regional History Center during regular operating hours. Tickets are $20 for all tours and will embark from the History Center. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable between tours. Arrive 10 minutes early to claim a seat and travel in an air-conditioned Checker Bus for the duration of the tour which is 90 minutes.
Fuzzy Boyak golf tourney set
MUNISING — The seventh Annual Fuzzy Boyak Memorial Golf Tournament kicks off at Munising’s Pictured Rocks Golf Club on July 29.
Registration is opens for this four-person scramble with cash prizes for winning teams and dinner. All proceeds to benefit the Dennis “Fuzzy” Boyak Fund and the Fuzzy Fitness Center housed within Alger Parks and Recreation Department.

The tournament has a shotgun start at 11 a.m. July 29.
The Dennis “Fuzzy” Boyak Fund was created to memorialize Fuzzy Boyak by his beloved family. Fuzzy loved Munising and supported many efforts in the community. His family is honored to continue those efforts and his legacy. The Alger Parks and Recreation Department is a local non-profit organization that provides quality recreation, educational and cultural opportunities at affordable pricing for all.
