NARFE to meet on Wednesday

MARQUETTE — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association Chapter 1900, will meet at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday in Room B of the Marquette Senior Center, on the lower level of City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Ave. in Marquette.

Members may enter from Spring Street, behind City Hall. Spring Street is one-way from east to west.

NARFE Chapter 1900 includes members from the Marquette, Escanaba, Rapid River, Ontonagon, Houghton and Hancock areas. For additional information, call 475-0362.

Beautification commitee to meet

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Beautification & Restoration Committee will meet at noon Thursday at the Landmark Inn.

Tom Vear, owner of Donckers and the Delft Bistro, will discuss the restoration of the iconic Delft Theater Sign, his new restaurant and his future ideas for downtown Marquette.

Middle Eastern Dinner event held

MARQUETTE — A Middle Eastern Dinner will be presented Tuesday, May 30.

The evening includes 6 p.m., cocktail reception; and 6:30 p.m., dinner.

Upper Peninsula Folklife Awards will be presented after the entree course.

This event will be in the Northern Michigan University Great Lakes Rooms, University Center. The cost is $75 per person ($21 will be recognized as a charitable contribution)

‘Walk a Mile in My Shoes’ Thursday

MARQUETTE — On Thursday, Pathways Community Mental Health will present the inaugural Marquette County “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” rally designed to increase awareness of the stigma associated with requesting help with mental illness and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The event will be at the Marquette Commons at 112 S. Third St. in Marquette from 1-4 p.m.

Registration will take place between 1 and 1:30 p.m. The event will feature live entertainment, informational booths, community speakers and healthy snacks. The one-mile walk along the bike path heading west from the Marquette Commons will begin at 1:30 p.m.
