Male chorus spring concert set
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Male Chorus will be performing its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1700 Fair Ave. in Marquette.
Guest performers will be Wayne Hanmer, Renee Robertson, Kathy Buchong and Dawn Betts performing “Three Piano Preludes.”
Tickets are available at the door: $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and children.
Pet handler class planned
MARQUETTE — SuperiorLand Pet Partners, a local affiliate of Pet Partners therapy animal group, trains and tests animals and their human handlers to do animal therapy volunteer work.
Pet Partners sets the standard for animal therapy work and once registered, these highly trained teams are invited into hospitals, nursing and rehab homes, schools, libraries, etc. to bring comfort and support.

TruNorth grant program available
ISHPEMING — The Board of Directors of TruNorth Federal Credit Union — an unpaid group of volunteer members — announces that the TruNorth Community Grant Program is now available.
Total grant funds available each year will be determined by the credit union’s Board of Directors and the winning 2017 applicant could be awarded up to $10,000.
“This program was initiated to continue our support of our communities in a way that could enhance the lives of our membership and to build a strong community for long-term success,” said George Isola, general manager of TruNorth, in a news release.
Applications will be accepted through the end of June from community non-profit organizations working to improve the quality of life for local residents and build strong communities within TruNorth Federal Credit Union’s field of membership (Marquette, Alger, Baraga, Dickinson and Iron counties).
Projects that contribute to community improvements in arts and culture, the local environment, health and safety, basic human needs, recreation, and support for seniors and youth will be considered by the grant committee.

Mother’s Day service Sunday
MARQUETTE — Silver Creek Church will hold a Mother’s Day service at 10 a.m. Sunday with special guest speaker Clarissa Taylor.
Taylor is the 2016 winner of the Janesville (Wisconsin) Business Challenge and the owner of Sweet Velvet Cake Co. Her talk, “Lasting Impression,” will touch on Taylor’s struggle with feeling rejected by her family and will highlight her journey from rejection to acceptance.
Silver Creek Church is located at 219 Silver Creek Road, four miles south of Marquette in Harvey. The public is invited to attend this special service.
