MCHD — Clinic services available today at Marquette County Health Department are: HIV/AIDS Counseling and Testing, Family Planning, Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening, STD, and Health services from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. A WIC Clinic will be held from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Diabetes support — group meeting from 5-7 p.m. at the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum for parents of children living with type 1 diabetes. The group will be meeting every third Thursday of the month. Parents will have a chance to meet and discuss issues, concerns, and get advice from other parents who may be going through similar situations with their children. Snacks will be served. U.P. Poet Laureate — An Upper Peninsula Poet Laureate Poetry Reading with Martin Achatz and featuring Linda Smith and Seamus Collins is planned for 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library for Martin Achatz’s first official reading as U.P. Poet Laureate. He will be joined by Linda Smith and Seamus Collins. Achatz will read from a new collection of poetry that has yet to be published.

Get to Know the MSO — The Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum is offering a Family Literacy Night with the Marquette Symphony Orchestra from 5:30-7:30 p.m. This is a chance to “Get to Know the MSO.” It’s a free family night for preschool and early elementary age children. Free books and prizes to take home, snacks and activities. Sponsored by the Literacy Legacy Fund of Michigan and AmeriCorps through MARESA.
