PWPL to host astro presentation
MARQUETTE — On Wednesday, the Marquette Astronomical Society in conjunction with the Peter White Public Library will be presenting “What’s Out There? Observing the Moon.”
Held in the library’s community room at 7 p.m., this program will cover when and where to find the Moon and once you have found it, what features to look for whether you are using binoculars or the library loan scope or a larger scope.
Topics covered will be: phases of the Moon, craters, maria, moon maps, observing techniques. Be sure to bring questions.
Scott Stobbelaar, the presenter, has had 50-plus years of lunar observing. He has ground his own telescope mirrors, founded the Marquette Astronomical Society in 1962, and is currently a Solar System Ambassador and part of NASA’s Museum Alliance.
