Superior: A film by Edd Benda and Alex Bell

The year is 1969. Cousins Derek and Charlie (Paul Stanko; Thatcher Robinson) are graduating high school, and contemplating what will become of the rest of their lives. The pair decide to temporarily escape life’s pressures by embarking from the Keweenaw Peninsula on a 1,300-mile bike trip around Lake Superior. Selected by multiple film festivals as one of the best independent films of the year. One disc, run-time of 84 minutes. (Not Rated).

Midsomer Murders: Series 17 and 18

“Welcome to England’s most murderous county.” The long-running detective series has been a staple since 1997, with John Nettles portraying Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby and solving murders in the fictional English county of “Midsomer.” If you are already a Midsomer Murders fan, these are also known as “set 26 & 27” in the DVD release sequence. From Acorn Media. Series 17 has 2 discs, four mysteries, and a total run-time of 372 minutes. Series 18 has three discs, six mysteries, and a total run-time of 557 minutes. (Not Rated). Father Brown: Season Four

Lovable and quirky Father Brown returns, portrayed by Mark Williams. Based on the short stories of G.K. Chesterton, an English Priest has a knack for solving mysteries. Father Brown was previously filmed as a television program in the early 1970s, and was revived in 2013 for a new run of series. BBC / Warner. Season four has two discs, ten episodes, and a total run-time of 442 minutes. (Not Rated).

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Based on the teen fiction book by Ransom Riggs (2011). A Tim Burton film starring Eva Green (Casino Royale, 300) as Miss Peregrine, and Asa Butterfield (Hugo, Enders Game) as Jake. When young Jake discovers the existence of the Home for Peculiar children, the adventure is only beginning as he sees for himself exactly what makes them peculiar, and discovers how he fits into their story. One disc, run-time of 127 minutes. (Rated PG-13).
