Educational presentations to be held

MARQUETTE — The Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post is hosting two educational presentations on human trafficking in early 2017. The presentations will emphasize the signs to look for suspected human trafficking and preventative mesasures that can be taken.

The first presentation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 at the Schoolcraft County Courthouse in Manistique. The second presentation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the St. Ignace Post.

The public is invited to attend, ask questions and share their concerns in regards to emerging crime of human trafficking.

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery in which traffickers use force, fraud or coercion to control victims for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or labor services against their will.
