The Iron Mountain Music Jams are held the last Saturday of the month at the Crystal Lake Senior Center from 1-4 p.m. This is an acoustic jam and welcomes players from all levels. There is no fee and listeners are welcome. The upcoming jams will be Friday.

Every second Tuesday of each month — The Marquette Arts and Culture Center will host its Gallery Tour at 12:30 p.m. at the center, located at the Peter White Public Library. The Arts and Culture Center Manager Tiina Harris will guide guests on a free tour of the SmallWorks and Main Gallery. Everyone is invited.

Tuesdays, 5-5:45 p.m. — Dance Zone offers a salsa workout. Learn the steps to Latin dances while toning your body and increasing your stamina. $2 per session. Dance Zone 1113 Lincoln Ave., Marquette. For more information, call 236-1457.

Tuesdays, 7-9 p.m. — International Folk Dancing. Dances from around the world. Learn a new culture through dance.  No experience or partner needed. Bring clean shoes to protect the floor. Mondays, 7:30-930 p.m. — Mainstream and Plus Square Dance with Caller Marge Sklar; Rounds between squares with Gil Martin. No lessons at these sessions. Bring clean dance shoes. This event offers a fun activity for teens through elders. Not a dancer? Lessons begin in January. Dance Zone 1113 Lincoln Ave., Marquette. For more information, call 236-1457.

Thursdays, 7-8:30 p.m. — Ongoing Ballroom dance lessons; class teaches waltz, fox trot, tango, rumba, cha cha, swing, etc. Beginners are welcome. Learn the basic steps and a routine to each style. Nov. 28-29 — Tickets are now on sale for the 50th annual “Sounds of Christmas” concert presented by the Dickinson County Community Chorus. The concert will be held on Nov. 28-29. The program will be at 7 p.m. each evening at the Kingsford High School auditorium.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults, and $5 for students. They can be purchased from any chorus member or at The Music Tree on Hughitt Street or at the door. Proceeds from this concert support the chorus in all their programs throughout the year.

Dec. 1 — The Celtic/folk/world music duo Four Shillings Short is coming to the Peter White Library to perform a special Celtic Winter Concert featuring music, poetry and stories from the Celtic Tradition at 7 p.m., Dec. 1, in the library’s Community room.

Four Shillings Short, the husband/wife duo of Aodh Og O’Tuama from Cork, Ireland and Christy Martin from California, perform traditional and original music from the Celtic lands, Medieval and Renaissance Europe, India and the Americas on an array of instruments.

There is no admission charge to attend this concert thanks to the sponsorship by the Carroll Paul Memorial Trust Fund of the Peter White Public Library.

Dec. 4 — The Ishpeming Carnegie Friends of the Library will host a Holiday Open House from 2-4 p.m.

Dec. 8 — Classical guitarist Nemanja Bogunovic will perform at Peter White Public Library at 7 p.m. in the library’s community room.

A guitarist since the age of 7, Bogunovic graduated from the Conservatory of Music in Belgrade, and was appointed art director of the Prince Tomislav Foundation by Serbian Princess Linda Karageorgevich.

Dec. 9-10 — “A Christmas Tapestry 2016: Music of the Season” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1700 W. Fair Ave., Marquette.

This 23nd annual concert will include performances by The Marquette County Chamber Chorale, The Marquette Male Chorus, under the direction of Wayne Hanmer, and accompanists Dawn Betts and Lynne Lanczy. Performers also include Tintinniere: Richard Beyers, handbells, Sharon Aho Farrell, piano.

Dec. 10 — The Negaunee Male Chorus will present a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. at the Negaunee High School Auditorium.

Tickets are on sale for $10. Tickets are available from SuperOne Foods in Negaunee, Jubilee Foods in Ishpeming, TruNorth Federal Credit Union in Ishpeming and from Chorus members.
