Hope Starts Here – Race day registration starts at 7 a.m. at Lakeview Arena in Marquette for The River Valley Bank Hope Starts Here Challenge, celebrating its 10th anniversary of raising funds and awareness for the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center through competitive and leisurely events geared for all ages and skill levels. Polka band – Ishpeming VFW Post 4573, will be hosting a Polka Band dance from 2-6 p.m. The Richie Yuckavich Band will be featured. The cost is $7 at the door. Refreshments and a meal will be available at a low price.

Paws for Reading – The Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library is adding a new weekly program for children. Paws for Reading will take place from 2-4 p.m. The program allows kids to practice reading skills and gain confidence by reading to certified therapy dog Winnie.
