Flash floods hit lower Michigan

EDWARDSBURG, Mich. — Flash flooding in far southwestern Michigan has triggered evacuations and rescues of several residents.

MLive.com reports the flooding started Saturday after rains overwhelmed culverts and submerged roads. Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says two rescues involved people stranded in or on top of vehicles, and some residents near Edwardsburg were evacuated because homes were underwater. Sheriff’s officials urged people in the area to stay off roads until the rain subsides. Edwardsburg is about 13 miles northeast of South Bend, Indiana.
