2 injured in Alger County motorcycles crash
MARQUETTE — A collision between two motorcycles Saturday in Alger County left two Midland County men injured.
According to a Michigan State Police Press release, troopers from the Negaunee post were dispatched to a location a quarter mile west of Sand River on M-28, close to the Marquette County line.
A motorcycle driven by 65 year-old William Vaillancourt of Sanford crashed into the back of another motorcycle driven by Terry Whittington, 51, of Midland. The two were traveling together, and both were towing trailers, the release states.
Vaillancourt was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious injury, as Whittington was wearing a helmet and sustained minor injuries. Both men were transported to U.P. Health System-Marquette.
Vaillancourt was determined to be at fault in the crash.
A state police accident investigator responded to the scene to assist with the investigation, which, according to the release, is still ongoing. Traffic was heavy at the time and motorists endured short delays while troopers completed the crash investigation.
Chocolay Township Police, Onota Township Fire Department and First Responders and UPHS-Marquette also responded to the scene.
