Marquette man arrested for mortgage fraud, forgery

MARQUETTE — A Marquette man was arrested Friday on two felony counts of residential mortgage fraud of $100,000 or less and forgery of documents affecting real property, according to a press release from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said an 11 month investigation was conducted, and after the two felony warrants were authorized by the county prosecutor’s office, the man was arrested Friday afternoon. He later posted bond and was released.

The man allegedly committed fraud and forgery while obtaining a mortgage with River Valley Bank around Dec. 2, 2014, according to the press release.

He is scheduled to appear in Marquette County District Court at 8:15 a.m. April 3.

The Mining Journal does not name suspects pending their arraignment in court.
