MARQUETTE — For those who are looking to purchase local, handcrafted goods this holiday season, this weekend’s Outback Winter Art Fair has much to offer.

The art fair, which will feature 25 to 30 vendors, will run 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Masonic Center Ballroom, located at 128 W. Washington Street in Marquette.

Attendees will have an opportunity to browse and purchase a diverse array of artwork and handcrafted goods, such as pottery, fiber works, jewelry, photography, glass and metal works, yard decorations and much more, said Cindy Engle, Outback Winter Art Fair event coordinator.

“This is a nice relaxed shopping show for good products and good artworks without being overwhelmed by 300 vendors. It’s a nice, comfortable way to do shopping,” she said, noting that many of the vendors featured at the summer Outback Art Fair will also be present with their goods at the winter edition of the fair.

The art show gives attendees a chance to purchase unique gifts while supporting local artists and small businesses, which helps keep shoppers’ money in the community, where it can directly benefit local artists and their families, she said.

“It’s just really nice to support local artists and keep the money in town,” Engle said, noting the significance of shopping locally on the two days the art fair is being held — Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.

Beyond the opportunity to support local artists, the show also offers a fun, laid-back shopping experience for attendees that will feature live music and a luncheon.

“Get away from the fast-paced big box store shopping, come in and enjoy yourself,” Engle said.
