Marquette Food Co-op offering cooking classes
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Food Co-op has released its winter/spring 2018 cooking class schedule.
“Whether you’re looking to improve your health, amp up your skills in the kitchen, diversify your menu or learn about different cultures through food, the co-op has a class for you,” a release from the local business states. “Class instructors are often co-op owners or local community members, and many are volunteers who generously share their knowledge and experience with attendees.”
The classes offer multicourse meals, high quality instruction, hands-on preparation and take-home recipe booklets. The schedule is as follows:
≤ Healthy meal prep, Jan. 23 or 30;
≤ Flavors from the Silk Road, Feb. 6 or 13;
≤ Ayurvedic diet, March 6 or 13;
≤ Fasting mimicking diet, March 27;
≤ Thai street food, April 3 or 10;
≤ South Indian meal, May 1 or 8;
≤ New Orleans brunch, May 29.
“With the ability to cook comes so many benefits,” said Sarah Monte, outreach director for the Marquette Food Co-op. “When preparing food at home, you’re able to control what ingredients go into your dish. The end result is a high-quality, healthy dish for you and your family. Plus, it’s fun and satisfying to have a deeper connection to the food you’re eating.”
Most classes are $15 for co-op members, and $30 for others. The Fasting Mimicking Diet class is $10 for co-op members and $20 for others, while the New Orleans brunch class is $20 for co-op members and $35 for others.
All cooking classes are held Tuesday evenings in the co-op classroom, located in the lower level of the store. Full class descriptions and other information can be found online or in the store.
