Warm up for the 3rd annual West End Winter Wonderland on Feb. 9

It’s difficult to believe that the first month of 2019 is almost at its end. I guess it’s true when they say time flies when you’re having fun! We are so excited to announce our third annual West End Winter Wonderland event, set to take place on Feb. 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wawonowin Country Club in Champion. This outdoor winter event will allow guests a unique experience unlike any other. Grab your snowshoes, skis or snowbikes and follow the groomed paths at your own pace while enjoying the company of your friends or family. New this year, there will be a beginner, intermediate and advanced loop. This way, no matter your skill level you can still enjoy what the event has to offer. As you’re moving along the paths, stop at chamber member businesses to see what each one has to offer. Whether it’s appetizers, drinks or an activity, there’s sure to be something for everyone in the family! Make sure to collect a sticker from each station to fill up your sticker card. At the end of the night, drop your sticker card

At the end of the night, drop your sticker card in the box for your chance to win the grand prize from Travel Marquette — a $200 lodging voucher along with some local goodies! If the bonfires at each station aren’t enough to warm you up, the Wawonowin Clubhouse will remain open for guests for the duration of the event. Don’t forget to pick up some 50/50 tickets in there, you just might be the lucky winner.

What could get cooler than all that? Glad you asked. UPCross will be hosting one of their series snowcross races right before the Winter Wonderland festivities! UPCross is a nonprofit that organizes cyclocross races across the U.P. From 1 to 3 p.m., you have the chance to watch an exciting race right on the course of Wawonowin. This means that there will be a whole day of winter fun happening out on the West End, all in one spot!

The GINCC is trying to bring events to the West End that are fun for everyone, because one of our main goals is to connect the community. These connections can present themselves in many different ways, all of which we want to provide through events. Families can connect and have a fun and unique night out, since there will be something for all ages to enjoy. Businesses who are participating as stations get the opportunity to connect with community members in a different setting than their day-to-day operations. Friends, new and old alike, can use this as a chance to get together and make some memories.

Let’s make the best of this cold weather. This event is for those who love the winter, AND for those who don’t. I promise I can vouch for that! You will make some awesome memories with the people close to you. Trust me, it feels so nice to go inside the warm clubhouse after making your rounds on the paths and unwind with hot chocolate, coffee or any other beverage of choice. Your hair will be a mess from being in your hat, you’ll smell like bonfires, your legs and feet might be sore, but you’ll be happy. We hope you can join us! Call 906-486-1111 for ticket information.
