Chamber Chat: GINCC welcomes Kautz as new communications, marketing assistant
As the new Communications & Marketing Assistant for the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce, I’d like to introduce myself and extend my gratitude to those who have helped me get here.
I graduated from Westwood High School where I had my first taste of the “business world” when I joined Business Professionals of America. I then went to Northern Michigan University, and in May of 2017 I received my bachelors of science in marketing. During my time at NMU, I was fortunate to have many more opportunities that helped me gain some real-world insight. I was a member of the Dean’s Student Advisory Council and got to work closely with the dean of the College of Business and other College of Business students. I also had the chance to study abroad in Costa Rica for a semester, which I would highly recommend to every student! Thank you to my professors and advisors at NMU who have taught me what I know, and for being available whenever I needed help.
In the four years I attended school I also worked as a cashier at Super One Foods in Negaunee. I met many wonderful people, customers and coworkers alike, that I hope to reconnect with in my role at GINCC.
I learned quite a bit about myself and others from working with the public so closely. My favorite part about being there was all the conversations that transformed strangers into people I genuinely got excited to see so often. I’m thankful for my time at Super One and I am looking forward to having similar conversations with many more people throughout the West End.
While my coursework prepared me as much as possible, this will be my first hands-on experience as a marketing professional. I am embracing this time of inexperience, learning and growth.
I am so excited to help promote the growth of businesses in my community, and to connect with the people behind those businesses. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!
