What services does LSCP offer businesses?

Amy Clickner, CEO, Lake Superior Community Partnership

One of the Lake Superior Community Partnership Brand Pillars states, “We provide a wide variety of affordable and effective development services — for businesses and municipalities.” This pillar describes where our efforts are focused. In a nutshell, investments from our investors allow the LSCP to provide business development services that help all sectors and stages of companies.

It is important to emphasize that the LSCP will work with any business. If we don’t specialize in your business’ needs, we will certainly point you in the right direction.

When it comes to economic development, there isn’t that “tangible” item to see, feel or touch like a widget, but we do use other metrics to show success. For example, in 2018, the LSCP served a total of 491 businesses across Marquette County. Of that 491, 82 percent of clients were in the retention and expansion business development stage, 13 percent were start-ups and 5 percent were attraction.

What type of services do we provide our clients and investors? Below is a list of some of the most popular:

¯Business planning

¯Site location

¯Talent attraction

¯Financing

¯State and federal incentive information

¯Grant writing

¯Support letters

¯Industry research

¯Networking opportunities

¯Ribbon cuttings

¯Webinars

All of our services are available at low to no cost to the business whether they are an investor or not.

On top of the services listed above, LSCP investors receive additional benefits.

For example, you’ll want to start by checking your business directory page on our website. Each investor has their own page that includes contact information, a business description and a website link. And if you invest at the Business Partner Level or higher, you may also include your logo, photos, video, social media links, hours of operation, a map to your location, an expanded business description and more. To make updates, contact our staff or log in with your password to make them on your own.

The lobby in our office is reserved for LSCP investors to showcase their businesses. Let us help you grow your brand by including your marketing materials, business cards, etc., in our lobby. We have many people walk through our office each day. Some are tourists looking for a hotel or place to eat and others are looking for business referrals, perhaps someone to assist with building a website or accounting services. Make sure you have your promotional materials on display. When someone stops in or calls our office, we always refer them to an investor first!

You probably notice e-blasts from us throughout the week. All investors are eligible to send e-blasts to our email list for an $80 fee. Our e-blasts reach approximately 2,400 people. What a great way to get your message out! We can work with you to design the e-blast using your logo, photos, links and content. These do book quickly, so get on the calendar as soon as you are thinking about sending something out.

Have a product or service to highlight? Take advantage of the Key to the County Investor-to-Investor benefit program. All investors are eligible to offer discounts for other investors and their employees to take advantage of. If your business does not provide a discount, you and your employees still receive a key and can make use of these generous savings. Let us know if your office is in need of keys!

We host many events throughout the year and LSCP investors receive discounts to all LSCP paid events. Some of our events include the LSCP Annual Dinner, Annual Golf Outing, Fall Fest and Family Feud Partnership Edition. Looking to advertise in Vision Magazine? There is a discount for that as well!

Being so diverse allows the LSCP to truly offer something to every business in Marquette County. Supporting businesses the past 21 years has allowed the LSCP to help hundreds of businesses on a yearly basis. In the past five years we have provided services to over 2,000 businesses.

We want to see businesses continue to thrive and grow in Marquette County and are always here to assist along the way. If you are interested in meeting with someone from our Business Development Team, simply call our office at 906-226-6591 or stop by 501 S. Front St. in Marquette.
