Mueller assumes GM duties at Keweenaw Mountain Lodge
COPPER HARBOR — John Mueller has taken over the general manager duties on an interim basis for the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge as of Jan. 1, according to a news release.
This year is the first season the lodge will be under new ownership, with Keweenaw Resort LLC purchasing it from Keweenaw County last September.
At the time of the purchase, Harvey Desnick was the general manager. Over his two-year period in that position, Desnick helped the resort control costs and shepherd the ownership transition in 2018, according to a release. He retired in December to spend time with his family and play more golf.
During the first season, Mueller has been working alongside employees on a daily basis. He and staffers are spending the off-season working on various improvements and the team is beginning to plan a event for Mother’s Day, May 12, to start its summer season.
