MARQUETTE — It’s not about business strategy — it’s about working passionately within her community, said Theresa Sell.

Theresa, a noble humanitarian and former Thrivent Financial consultant, has volunteered hundreds of hours and has donated to various charities and organizations throughout the area, including Ending Hunger Alliance of Marquette, which she founded and directs.

Through Encore Financial Group Theresa continues to serve clients by offering a variety of services at the 702 Chippewa Square location in Marquette, a comfortable building she’s been at for over a year. She’s currently welcoming new clients for consultations.

“I want my clients to know it’s not about business transactions, it’s about personal relationships. We go over everything in their lives to figure out what goals they want to achieve. I get to know their families and friends, too … and they meet mine,” Theresa said, smiling after her eldest son entered the tranquil room to say hello. “I enjoy helping and teaching my clients how to realistically reach their goals no matter what might come up — and things do come up. I assure that everyone has a strategic plan put in place to protect them from anything that could derail their life.”

Theresa, who has over 15 years experience as a financial and investment adviser, specializes in retirement distribution and tax strategy development and analysis. She works with clients who want to maximize retirement distributions, as well as helping them prepare for any unexpected life circumstances; she also works with small businesses and employees on planning for structure, sustainability and salability.

By having limited clientele, she’s able to work with clients’ needs efficiently. She’s focused on the relationship between them and what’s best for them specifically, she said.

Since its establishment in Cheboygan in 2004, Encore Financial Group’s focus has been directed toward reducing risks, offering protection services and growth opportunities to clients, families and small business owners.

Encore Financial Group has a long list of services provided, some of which include: identifying investment objectives and risk tolerances; independent and objective review of products and services in the marketplace; advancing analysis of all aspects of clients’ financial lives including major purchases, retirement plans, college plans, estate plans, potential long-term care needs, and any other investment programs; systematic portfolio rebalancing to manage risks; ongoing evaluation of results and performance; and much more.

The transition from Thrivent Financial to Encore Financial Group allows Theresa to serve the community in the same professional and friendly manner, but she’ll have more products available. Rather than exclusively offering Thrivent Financial products, she now has the ability to provide an immense amount of others, accommodating countless needs.

“Since I’m not product based, I’m no longer limited in what I can offer,” she said. “Encore’s a wonderful organization that walks the talk — that’s why I chose Encore. The organization allows me to not only do the right thing for my clients but also the best thing.”

Aside from her full-time business and exceptional community outreach involvement, Theresa’s a mother of two active boys who keep her on her toes.
