Behrendsen joins UPHS-Marquette

MARQUETE — UP Health System – Marquette has announced that Steven Behrendsen, DO, rheumatologist, has joined the UP Health System – Marquette Medical Specialists.

Behrendsen brings specialized expertise in rheumatology to Marquette, including the diagnosis and treatment of systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases, including but not limited to inflammatory musculoskeletal diseases.

Common ailments treated by rheumatologists include osteoarthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic back pain, tendinitis, and lupus.

Behrendsen earned his doctorate at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of California San Francisco-Fresno/San Joaquin Valley Medical Education Program. He then finished his fellowship training in rheumatology and immunology at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center. He is board certified in rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Behrendsen joins rheumatologist Dr. Kimberly Thomsen and a team of providers at the UP Health System – Marquette Medical Specialists at the Peninsula Medical Center, located at 1414 W. Fair Avenue in Marquette.
